Where we are living

Our home base is Rue de Carrieres in Chateaurenard.  It has no special claim to fame except there is a ruined chateaux on the hill above the town (but just about every town in France has that), however, it is extremely well located, as we are coming to really appreciate.   The house is not fancy and it is old and we dearly wish it were air conditioned as it hit 99 today!

We have a walled in yard and a nice outdoor patio which is perfect for studying maps and reading guidebooks before the day gets too hot.  The inside shot shows where we have eaten a number of casual meals - all accompanied by cheap local wine.   We have learned to keep the shutters all closed as it keeps the temperature in the house a good 12-15 degrees cooler than outside.
